Yes we do. We often teach families - but if you're looking to learn on your own or with other adults you'll find everything you need to know at SkateFit
Yes you must! We only teach children in the presence of parents or legal guardians.
Children must wear wrist, knee and elbow pads as well as a helmet.
Adults are required to wear wrist and knee pads, but I strongly recommend that you wear elbow pads and a helmet as well for your own protection – please see my terms and conditions.
You can also seek advice from a qualified salesperson at a professional skate shop when choosing all protective equipment. They will be more than happy to talk you through the benefits of the different brands and equipment available.
You'll find some cool skate helmets here>> they're fun and appeal to kids.
It is important to invest in a good quality pair of skates.
For profesional advice, go visit a profesional skate shop such as Slick Willies on Goucester Road.
Private lessons: We would meet by Royal Oak tube station and do the lesson in a covered area. We will contact you a couple of hours before lesson time to confirm the location.
Group Lessons: We don't teach when its raining or wet on the ground ( wet tarmac is slippery on skates). In case of potential rain, we will contact you to confirm or reschedule the lesson.
It really depends – how long is a piece of string! Children tend to learn faster than adults. Likewise, adults and children who already have good balance and coordination through other activities such as ice skating, skiing, dancing or even a martial arts will progress more quickly than people without those skills.
When learning to skate, almost everyone is surprised by how much progress they make in the beginning. You will learn rollerblading more intensively in a private lesson than in a group – private lessons are tailored to your individual needs, whereas the pace in a group session is set by the average level of all the students so that no one is left behind.
It is also important to try and practice between classes. If you are unsure, we can have an assessment lesson where you will receive feedback and we can discuss your goals for you and/or your child and plan how we can best achieve those goals together.
