Skate star is the only merit scheme for junior rollerbladers in the UK and it'll take them all the way to the top.
Children love having goals and the Skate Star programme gives them a framework of achievable targets to work towards (and a certificate and a badge to show off at the end!)
At each level they're given a practical assessment that tests their new skills. Get it right and they're rewarded with a 'Pass Pack' * - then it's staight on to the next level!
Early stages of the Skate Star programme are designed to be easily achievable for any able bodied enthusiastic skater. Most young skaters will get to Level 1 in their first couple of lessons. Later stages normally take a little longer to achieve.
Reach Level 6 and they'll be skating beautifully ( and safely ) but there's more to learn of course!
Many young skaters go on to to specialise - in roller hockey, freestyle or speedskating. Others are happy to roll around for fun, enjoying their new skills.
Skate Star testing for each level takes 10-15 minutes of class time and children are only tested when we're confident that they can perform new skills to order.
Roller Star is led by Quentin Silvand, London's specialist children's rollerblading instructor. You can find out more about Quentin here >>
